The Czech economy continues to exhibit signs of overheating: unemployment is at record low levels, inflation is persistently exceeding the target rates set by the Czech National Bank (CNB). Due to the labour constraints, automobile production has for now ceased to be the main driver of the Czech economy; household consumption is now the engine. Household consumption is currently growing at a rate which appears to be unsustainable in the longer term and may trigger higher inflation.
