COLLIERS INTERNATIONAL BROKERS OFF-MARKET DEAL FOR GLASGOW HOTEL
Glasgow, 16 May 2018 - Colliers International, has facilitated the sale of a large Glasgow hotel, in an off-market deal to Asian buyers off a guide price reported to be close to £10m.
The 117-room GoGlasgow Urban Hotel was sold by Julian Troup, head of Colliers’ UK Hotels Agency, on behalf of the Crerar Hotel Group. He said the sale to Singapore-based Buxani Group followed confidential marketing of the property which reflects increasing international interest in the UK hotels sector. Julian Troup said: “The acquisition of GoGlasgow was conducted in a highly confidential fashion and is a further example of an overseas buyer securing a prime UK hotel outside of London.
Paddy Crerar, CEO of Crerar Hotel Group, said: “Colliers brought a number of parties to the table, all with the ability to transact at the level we required; however it was clear that Buxani Group were by far the most committed to the hotel and were a thoroughly decent company to deal with”.
Testimonial
“We found the work carried out by Colliers to be thoroughly excellent at all stages from pre-sale, through negotiations to the completion of the sale. We had every confidence from Colliers that we would indeed achieve the right deal for our company. The decision to retain Colliers International for the marketing of a further 5 hotels in our company was a direct consequence of the work they undertook on the sale of GoGlasgow.” - Paddy Crerar – Crerar Hotels – Sale of GoGlasgow Urban Hotel
“Following a valuation of the hotel by Colliers in late 2019 the decision was taken to market the hotel in mid-2020 and I was provided with the contact details for Julian.
The hotel had been owned by the same owners since 1983. Julian was very responsive and dealt with the sales project in a sympathetic manner utilising his great knowledge of the hospitality industry, particularly in the Lake District. Julian kept in touch with the sellers and their advisers throughout the long process and assisted in achieving a satisfactory conclusion for the hotel and the shareholders.” 10/10 Douglas McMillan McMillan & Co LLP - Lakeside Hotel, Newby Bridge
"Colliers International and most particularly Julian Troup and Rob Smithson were a vital part of the team that helped achieve the sale of Castle Green Kendal Limited. Their commitment to the project and industry experience were essential in delivering a successful deal.” 10/10 Client on the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal, Cumbria (Tim Rumney - current CEO of Best Western UK)
Trout Hotel
Throughout the sale process of the Trout Hotel and against the background of a very challenging and rapidly changing economic climate Julian acted in a highly professional manner and always delivered a first-rate service. This resulted in us achieving a very good price for the business and the right buyer for our shareholders and colleagues employed in the business. I was constantly impressed by the highly professional approach Julian and Julie demonstrated throughout the sale process and always felt that they had the sellers’ best interests at heart. I would not hesitate to recommend Colliers and the team to other hoteliers thinking of selling their business. 10/10 would recommend Colliers and especially Julian and Julie.
