I have over 20 years experience in Business Rates Appeal work.
I specialise in the following sectors, large industrial, breweries, distribution warehouses, large foodstores and car showrooms.
I cover the greater Midlands Area, I am a member of several business rate forums, tasked with negotiating an agreed valuation basis with the Valuaiton Office, on various property sectors.
I regularly attend Valuation Tribunal and have presented at Upper Tribunal, including the Simpsons Malt Case, regarding VT/VOA procedure.
As an RICS APC Assessor, I am responsible for training the Business Rates Graduates within the Birmingham Office and as part of a team, mentor all of the Birmingham Office Graduates, across disciplines.
For the 2010 Rating List, negotiated a revised basis for Swift Valley Distribution Park - Rugby, Centrum 100 - Burton on Trent and Fradley Business Park. This is now on going for the 2017 Rating List.
Significant savings also achieved on stand alone distribution warehouses, eg, JCB, factories and successful outcomes on obsolescence/deletion appeals.
Significant savings for National Motorcycle Museum agreeing that the Contractors basis of valuation not appropriate and a full receipts and expenditure based valuation approach should be adopted.
Significant savings for Molson Coors Burton on Trent Brewery for the 2010 & 2017 Rating Lists, factors considered, age, build cost and superfluity regarding a contractors valuation approach.
Recently elected to The Rating Surveyors Association Committee and can therefore represent clients interests on matters of concern, at a strategic level.
