Professional Summary

Toby joined Colliers International in 2015 to expand the Build to Rent capability on opportunities across the UK. Toby is a Chartered Surveyor with over 15 years of property and residential specific experience. He has benefited from working at King Sturge/ JLL but also has spent time client side and gained unique experience on appraising sites/ income producing assets for acquisition and disposal, as well as planning and build to rent management.

A significant proportion of Toby’s work at Colliers International is focused around advising clients on the valuation, appraisal, disposal and acquisition of various Build to rent specific and mixed use development opportunities.

Toby’s client side experience means that he is well placed to provide consultancy advice from an  investor perspective, particularly when negotiating the disposal or acquisition of opportunities.

Recent build projects include:

Funding and Sellside:

  • Chelmer Riverside, Chelmsford acting for Taylor Wimpey we structured the construction finance with L&G for 104 apartments. c£28m GDV

  • Eccy Village, Sheffield on behalf of Abode we structured the construction finance with Grainger for 237 apartments. c£40m GDV

  • The Residence, Nine Elms, on behalf of Bellway homes arranged funding with L&Q for the 114 build to rent units covenanted to rent for 15 years. c£65m GDV

  • The Lancastrian, Manchester on behalf of Balfour Beatty Investments arranged funding with AIG for 274 apartments. c£65m GDV

  • First Way Wembley, acting for Cole Waterhouse we funded the 682 student beds with Unite. c£100m GDV

  • Emily Davis Halls, Southampton- Acting for a family office, identified a purchaser for the income producing investment of 240 student beds. GDV £11m

Acquisition and consultancy projects:

  • Kirkstall Road, Leeds- off plan purchase of 117 apartments by Aberdeen Standard. GDV £18m

  • Macbean Street, Woolwich- Land transactions on behalf of L&G. Scheme for 650 apartments. GDV c£650m

  • B&Q/Home Base, Wandsworth- Land transaction on behalf of L&G. Scheme for 1,000 apartments. GDV c£500m

  • Quintain- Advised a fee paying client on the acquisition of Quintain in Wembley 5,000 apartments. GDV c£6.5bn

  • Access Self Storage- Advised on the 477 apartment scheme above storage (“beds and shed”). GDV P&C
