Cornish landmark on the market with Colliers International.

The owners of a Cornish coach house which is on the market with global real estate advisor Colliers International have reduced the asking price.

The Old Ferry Inn, in Bodinnick, near Fowey, had been put on the market in August at £1.2 million for the freehold.

Now the vendor is willing to consider offers in the region of £1,050,000 for the property, which sits on the Polperro Heritage Coast in South East Cornwall.

The ferry crossing which operates opposite the property is said to have existed since the 13th century, and remains an important part of the local infrastructure, with fresh mussels delivered daily by ferrymen.

The quaint village of Bodinnick is famed as the home of author and playwright Daphne du Maurier, who lived near the Old Ferry Inn at a waterside property called Ferryside, which remains in her family to this day.

The Old Ferry Inn, which began life as a coaching inn on the London to Penzance route, has 11 letting bedrooms, ten doubles and a family room which can sleep four, a bar, lounge, restaurant and river terraces with stunning estuary views.

There is also a two-bedroom owners’ flat, with lounge and family bathroom.

Ed Jefferson, from Colliers International’s hotels team, said: “The current owner is reluctantly selling the property, due to personal reasons.

“Since acquiring it, in late August 2018, the vendor renewed much of the property’s equipment and redecorated substantial parts of the property.

“Several notable walks begin and end at this characterful coaching inn which also serves as the perfect stopover for the steady stream of motorists who are heading further into the peninsula; the area is well-located, being just seven miles from St Austell and ten miles from the A30.”
