Landmark resort hotel sold

The iconic Habit hotel in Ilfracombe has changed hands following a deal brokered by Colliers International.

The eye-catching five-floor property – formerly known as the Crescent House Hotel – was bought by private clients off an asking price of £750,000.

The 11-room hotel on Fore Street boasts gardens and sea views to the rear and is packed with original features as well as views to Capstone Hill.

Ed Jefferson from Colliers International’s Hotels’ team said it was great to see such a grand building brought back in to the public realm.

“The Habit overlooks Fore Street between the Harbour and the High Street and is within walking distance of the town centre attractions.”

Further on, there are beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands which are renowned surfing destinations throughout the year.

Ed Jefferson continued: “Our clients set about an ambitious refurbishment of all the public areas, bringing 11 of the rooms to an unrivalled standard. There are a further nine rooms waiting to be fitted out.

“There is also a planning application at the consultation stage to develop eight flats in another part of the building which the new owners may retain or sell off. “
