Rooms with a view: Tavistock B&B ideal base for exploring South West

A distinctive, refurbished B&B with panoramic views over Tavistock has been placed on the market with Colliers International.

Originally a private house, Rockmount on Drake Road is in a predominantly residential area just 100m from the centre of town and makes an ideal base for people looking to explore the Devon coast.

Tavistock is just outside Dartmoor National Park on the A386 and is around 15 miles from Plymouth.

Ed Jefferson from Colliers International’s Hotels team said: “Rockmount is a profitable, owner-operator business which achieved a listing in the 2018 Michelin Guide.

“It has six stunning letting rooms, one of which is a separate, self-contained apartment adjacent to the main house. There is also an excellent one-bedroom apartment for the owners. The whole property is beautifully appointed.”

Ed Jefferson said a full planning permission had been granted in 2008 for the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a three-storey building comprising ten flats with parking spaces. The permission is still current.

The B&B has been run by Anthony Walker since 2010.

Ed Jefferson added: “The moment our client acquired the property he set about a complete refurbishment to create an upmarket B&B for visitors to Devon. After investing significantly in the property he now wishes to pursue other business interests.”

Rockmount is on the market with offers invited in the region of £670,000 for the freehold.
