Colliers International and GVA sell Roydon Marina Village to Lakeland Leisure Group for £10.75 million

Joint agents, Colliers International and GVA, have sold Roydon Marina Village, Roydon, a 56.2-acre site, to Lakeland Leisure Group, off a guide price of £10.75 million.

Comprising a marina, holiday lodges and residential park homes, as well as a motel, clubhouse and other leisure facilities, Roydon Marina Village has the substantial benefit of all-year round holiday use and also benefits from both residential and holiday caravan licences. The marina was developed from 2010 to 2011 from part of a former water sports lake and has potential for additional berth development, subject to planning.

Richard Moss, Head of UK Parks Agency at global real estate advisor, Colliers International, commented: “The demand for parks of this size and trading capability remains strong. The park and marina have been skilfully developed in the past but there is still plenty of scope for the buyer to take this property to the next level. The size and mix of income streams at the park undoubtedly contributed to the levels of interest we received from a range of well-respected and credible prospective buyers, not least the successful bidder; Lakeland Leisure Group.”

Nigel Wimpenny, Managing Director of Lakeland Leisure Group, added: "We are experienced in operating marinas, holiday parks and residential parks, so Roydon Marina Village sits right within our skill set. We are delighted to have made this acquisition, which brings the capacity across our five marinas up to 1,300 moorings. Our business model is to invest for the long-term in both facilities and infrastructure and work is already underway."

The Roydon Marina Village is ideally situated on the outskirts of the popular residential village of Roydon and between the New Town of Harlow and Hoddeston, which both provide a wide range of retail and service outlets to meet visitor requirements.

Colliers International and GVA acted on behalf of a private seller.

This deal follows the recent sale of Westholme Estate, North Yorkshire, which Colliers International and GVA sold to Leisure Resorts Ltd, off a guide price of £4.5 million.
