Total transactions recorded in Italy during the first quarter amounted to €1.7 billion, up by 8% compared to the same period in 2018. However, three major transactions were recorded during the quarter for over €100 million, which alone accounted for approximately 40% of the volume invested.
The slowdown in the Italian market continues, linked to the lack of product and not to any declining interest in the country by investors. Indeed, 70% of the volume invested involved foreign investors, who continue to be confident in the market.
In terms of product, a substantial investment volume comprised offices, with Milan again proving to be the preferred market by investors, along with the hotel sector. Good performance in Italy’s tourism sector makes this asset class popular throughout the entire country.
