Adam is part of the Accurates team which sits within the Rating department at Colliers, the team provides forensic audit and examination of historic business rates and council tax records back to 1990 identifying rating errors and overpayments for clients.
Accomplishments
Colliers' UK business rates team provides a comprehensive, integrated service. We call it 'the complete circle of business rates advice'. Our results speak for themselves. Since the start of the 2010 business rate list, we have saved more than £500 million for our clients through:
• Auditing historical valuations and reclaim overpaid business rates
• Challenging business rates valuation
• Managing business rate accounts
Personal Accomplishments:
• Identification of a new recovery type which lead to the recovery of mandatory relief in excess of £2.7 million for the housing sector.
• Lead a team of four auditors to recover in excess of £4.6 million in overpaid Business Rates for a well-known high street Bank and a major supermarket chain over a two year period.
• Project managed the implementation of a new initiative recovery, that secured in excess of £650k in fees with estimated forecasts expecting the initiative to generate £3 million in fees over a four year period.
• Having ultimate responsibility for authorising rate payments in 2017 worth a £192 million per annum

I have over 20 years’ experience in the Rating industry and lead a 20 plus Compliance & Audit team within the Accurates team at Colliers International.
I started my career at Wolverhampton City Council in 1999 within the Revenues Department. I joined Colliers International in 2007 as a Rating Compliance & Audit Manager and was promoted to Head of Accurates in 2020. I am a diploma member of the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV).

Sue joined the Rating Team at Colliers International as a Rating Compliance and Audit Manager in April 2010. She is a corporate member of the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation and has over 25 years experience in the administration and collection of Local Taxation charges. Sue has a wide knowledge of business rates legislation and caselaw
Before joining Colliers International, Adele worked for Lichfield District Council and Tamworth Borough Council and was involved in the administration and collection of local taxation charges. Adele joined the Rating Department at Colliers International as Senior Compliance and Audit Assistant in June 2015 and has over 30 years experience in local taxation charges.
Mark joined the Accurates team in September 2015 as a Rating Compliance and Audit Manager. He is a corporate member of the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation and has over 10 years experience in the administration and collection of Local Taxation charges. Mark has an in depth knowledge of business rates legislation and caselaw
Chris joined Colliers in July 2013 having graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BSc in Economics. Chris works as part of the Accurates team within the Rating department in a team focused on identifying Business Rates discrepancies and anomalies. He has worked on various rates audit and rating cases and prioritises generating new business from prospective clients. Chris also has experience in managing clients empty rate liabilities.
Chris became a member of the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation (IRRV) in 2016 and has successfully achieved the IRRV Technician qualification.
David joined the Rating team at Colliers International as a Data Analyst/Researcher in 2013. Prior to joining Colliers, David graduated from the University of Birmingham with a 2:1 in Mathematics. As a Data Analyst/Researcher he worked as part of the Rating Business Development Unit, looking to help grow the Rating and Accurates client base. His main duties included; co-ordinating and researching prospective client opportunities and improving current systems for recording and analysing data.
In January 2014, David joined the Data Team within the Accurates division, under his new role of Compliance and Audit Assistant. David looks to identify specific ‘Defined Recoveries’ within client and prospective client portfolios. Recoveries can be as a result of; historic errors in the Rating list, misinterpretation of legislation, calculation errors by billing authorities and allowances and reliefs applied incorrectly. He also assists with full rate audits on client portfolios.
In 2016, he became a member of the IRRV and began studying for the IRRV professional qualification. In 2017, David completed the course to become IRRV Tech qualified
Abel Haileab

Abel currently works as part of the Accurates team within the Rating department where the general aim is to identify Business Rates discrepancies and anomalies. As a compliance and audit manager, Abel has worked on various rates audit and rating cases.
Abel graduated from Aston University with a degree in Business Management and Public Policy.
Khurram Akram

Khurram joined the rating team at Colliers International as an Analyst in January 2007. He has previously worked for West Midlands Police in their HR statistics department, where he was involved with analysing HR information, identifying trends in data, auditing, interrogating and manipulating data in order to make full use of all the HR data available in the organisation. He was also involved with the upgrade of the HR system used in the organisation, helping identify how the new system would better suit the HR processes.
Khurram is involved with managing business rate audits on client portfolios. He is part of the Defined Recoveries Revenue stream within Accurates and is involved with identifying potential historic errors in the rating lists.
Khurram is a Technician member of the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation.
My working career started in the world of Advertising towards the end of the last Millennium!
After several years I entered the world of Recruitment and remained within it for about 20 years working for both Manpower and Capita.
51/2 years ago I joined the world of Rates Audit, when joining a firm called Goodman Nash. Colliers International was a competitor! However in August 2015 I was very happy to leave GN when offered a position within Colliers’ Accurates division.
As the Business Development Manager for the team it’s my role to predominately cross sell the 5 service lines we cover - Defined Recoveries, Historic Rates Audit, Empty Rates Cost Management, Efficiency Reviews and Forensic Auditing.
