The low-cost carrier Norwegian Air Shuttle is establishing a support office in Riga. The support office, formally known as Norwegian Air Resources Latvia, will serve Norwegian’s operations globally through delivering a range of support functions. This means that several new positions in Riga will be filled before the end of 2020 and continuing into 2021.

The company plans to have its support office at Jaunā Teika in operation by November 2020 occupying 800 m2 with the plan to expand to 3000 m2, by the end of 2021. The largest contemporary district in Latvia Jaunā Teika was carefully chosen as the best option for Norwegian due to the exceptionally large variety of amenities provided on the campus, excellent commuting opportunities for employees using public transport as well as the high quality of the BREEAM certified buildings and services provided.

“There is already a number of global companies (such as DNB ASA, Cabot, Accenture, Tieto Evry and other companies) that have chosen Jaunā Teika as their office due to excellent location and well-developed infrastructure. I am sure Norwegian Air Resources Latvia’s office will be an excellent supplement to the community of Jaunā Teika. The location to Riga was possible due to great efforts by the team of Investment and Development Agency of Latvia that worked hard during the pandemic lockdown and despite travel  restrictions, as well as global uncertainty were able to attract new investments and create new jobs in Latvia,” comments Eriks Bergmans, Colliers International partner, Head of Agency.

“We are happy about with the establishment of a Norwegian owned support office in Riga which is part of the company’s strategy to centralize important functions as well as shifting from outsourcing to insourcing. We look forward to welcoming new Colleagues to our offices at Jaunā Teika”, says Knut Olav Høeg, EVP IT, Supply Chain and Process Improvement

“We are glad to see smart, creative and fast growing companies moving to Jaunā Teika, as they value the dynamic, connected and engaging environment it provides. We are delighted that such a mementos international company as Norwegian Air Resources Latvia sees and believes in the Jaunā Teika idea. We are convinced that the supportive lifestyle that we provide and the innovative environment that the VEFRESH movement promotes will help Norwegian Air Resources Latvia grow even further,” adds Mindaugas Valuckas, board member of the HANNER Group.

About Norwegian

The Norwegian story began over 27 years ago - we were founded in 1993 but only began operating as a low-cost carrier with bigger Boeing 737 aircraft in 2002. Norwegian expanded across the globe as the airline launched short-haul services across Europe and then entered the long-haul sector serving the US, Asia and South America. We operate a modern and fuel-efficient fleet and with an average fleet age of just 4.6 years, Norwegian has one of the youngest and fuel-efficient fleets in the world. New aircraft are win-win for the passenger's comfort, wallet, the environment, and the company's costs.
