David Goodhue

Executive Vice President
Boston

Landlords and tenants rely on me for thoughtful and honest advice about Boston’s 128 South and 495 South markets. With my partners on the Southwest Brokerage team, I help our clients make highly informed decisions in an investment and leasing market that has become increasingly dynamic over the past several years.

I started my career in real estate after working for three years in technology sales at a young, relatively small company. Working directly with the president of a small business was invaluable experience for me, as I was exposed to many different sides of the day-to-day operations of a business. Having an appreciation of the bigger picture gives me insight into what drives our own clients, and has also helped me be a part of the growth of a well-rounded, successful team within Colliers.

Even after more than a decade in this business, I still appreciate the opportunities to learn something new, whether about the market, a client’s business, or even the people I get to work with. These combined experiences have guided my own personal growth and made the journey a fun one. I have learned that being a good advisor goes much deeper than a general understanding of the market’s competitive landscape or analyzing why one building may lease better than another. It’s about building trust and ultimately positioning clients for success, and how participating in those victories is the most rewarding.

As Senior Vice President on the Southwest suburban brokerage team, I provide service to a diverse mix of landlords and tenants in Boston’s Route 128 south and I-495 south and west markets. Working for tenants and landlords in the leasing and disposition of office, flex and industrial properties, I approach each assignment by putting myself in the position of the company, landlord and/or developer and advise accordingly. I believe that understanding all of the sides to a transaction and shifting the focus from transaction centric to business decision centric has resulted in much stronger and more meaningful client relationships, rooted in honesty and loyalty.

My exposure to and interest in real estate began immediately after college graduation, from Tufts University, when I was hired by another real estate brokerage firm to focus on the Route 128 market, specifically the central Mass Pike territories in and around Waltham. After learning the business and spending time in the market, I could identify the aspects that most interested me and that could provide meaningful opportunities for my career long term. I knew that I enjoyed having the foundation of traditional leasing as my day-to-day activities but was simultaneously intrigued and motivated by creative sale and redevelopment opportunities. In an effort to find that along with the necessary work-life balance, I made the move to Colliers International and transitioned from the well-established and more institutional central 128 market to the south and west markets. This territory has offered a unique diversity in my assignments, affording me more exposure to different building types, distinct industries and clients, and often unveiling those opportunities for creative repositioning, be it through a redevelopment or sale that had piqued my interest early on.

Though real estate has certainly taken shape in my life as much more than just a nine-to-five job, I do make time for the activities that I find most fulfilling, such as skiing, going to concerts, and especially spending time with my wife and four children.

Vice President

As a brokerage advisor focused on the suburban markets southwest of Boston, I diligently represent both landlords and tenants in their endeavors to lease office and/or industrial space. I enjoy problem solving and have translated that skill – along with my hard work ethic and overall ambition – into defining qualities that make me a better advisor to my clients.

Prior to joining Colliers, I worked in advertising for the Tampa Bay Lightning and then as a residential buyer’s agent with Jebb & Driggin Realty. Though seemingly different roles, the two experiences both afforded me great opportunities to challenge myself, resulting in a broadened scope of my overall business and service expertise.  At Jebb & Driggin, I advised clients through the home buying process, which offered many similarities to the tenant representation model I now implement at the commercial level.

With ever-changing market conditions, I appreciate my regular interaction with my immediate Southwest team as well as my other Colliers International colleagues, all of whom make me a more well-rounded, knowledgeable advisor. An encouraging atmosphere with motivated individuals appealed to me from the start at Colliers and remains one of the most satisfying parts of my job, second only to seeing the tangible results of my work with clients unfold. With continued success and engaging relationships, I remain hungry and motivated, ready to creatively solve the next problem that comes my way.

Tenants, landlords, and property owners depend on me for informed and honest advice about their real estate needs in Boston’s 128 and 495 south suburban markets. Working in unison with the Southwest team, I assist our clients in making thoughtful and cost-effective decisions in a leasing and investment market that has become increasingly dynamic in recent years.

I grew up in a family rooted in the real estate industry with our dinner table conversations often revolving around landlords and tenants in the market, so real estate has been in my genes – so to speak – for most of my life. Always keeping those interests in mind, I received my bachelor’s degree from Hobart William Smith College and then began my career at Rasky Baerlein where I managed permitting and community relations for development projects, but soon discovered that my true interest lied in the transaction side of the business. To help with the transition, I decided to earn my MBA in corporate finance from Babson College, with a focus in real estate and operations. In 2013, while simultaneously completing my courses at Babson, I joined the suburban brokerage leasing team at Colliers International where I have been able to combine my long-standing passion for real estate with my corporate finance expertise. This combination has helped tremendously in advising clients seeking to reduce their overall real estate costs and improve their bottom line.

I have always been a believer in the power of teamwork and collaboration, and this was a big factor in my decision to join the Southwest team at Colliers.  When a client hires me as an advisor, I can tell them with confidence that they are not only hiring me, but they are hiring six experienced and diverse individuals who have the knowledge, support and resources of a top tier real estate company. In an undeniably competitive industry, our matchless team chemistry offers a true differentiator because it gives clients the opportunity to leverage our individual disciplines and skillsets to achieve their business goals.

Stephen Woelfel

Senior Vice President
Boston

As a senior leader and real estate advisor on the Southwest team, I represent a diverse group of office, flex, and manufacturing/industrial tenants and landlords, striving to craft the best solutions for their business, real estate, and overall economic needs. Born and raised in Norwood, I truly enjoy seeing the evolution of the markets where I grew up, and witnessing the constant reinvention of buildings and emergence of new companies.

Prior to joining Colliers in 2014, I spent seven years at Cushman and Wakefield, focusing on the metrowest market and its dynamic product and tenant mix. That experience afforded me the opportunity to fully immerse myself in a territory and build a strong foundation of market knowledge. Now, continuing in that same territory, I can leverage my expertise to offer my clients the highest level of service.

I appreciate continuous opportunities to work with great team members, both within Colliers as well as with my clients’ organizations. Away from the office, I have a love for golf and spending time with my family. I am highly committed to my position on the board of JB’s Keys to DMD, an organization focused on unlocking the doors to awareness, quality care, treatments, and research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

As a brokerage advisor focused on the suburban markets southwest of Boston, I have the pleasure of representing both tenants and landlords in their efforts to lease office and industrial space. Since joining Colliers in September of 2017, I’ve been learning the ins and outs of real estate markets from a team of experienced and highly regarded real estate professionals. I’ve found that being on a team with such a substantial amount of landlord assignments has given me an advantage in regard to learning the dynamic suburban office and industrial landscape.

Prior to joining Colliers, I was a full-time undergraduate student at Boston College, where I majored in Economics. In the summer going into my freshman and sophomore years at BC, I interned at Wallace Capital, a private finance company that provides loans and joint venture equity to real estate investors and developers. I then was fortunate to intern for the following two summers at Northbridge Partners, a Boston based firm focused on real estate investments throughout the Northeast Region. It was at Wallace Capital and Northbridge Partners where I truly developed my passion for real estate, and I’m extremely thankful that I can continue to develop my real estate career at an established firm like Colliers.
