Brokerage Senior Vice President | Cincinnati

I like to measure my success based on the relationships I’ve made with my clients and the trust they’ve conveyed in me. Since my start in commercial real estate in 1990, I’ve prided myself on personal integrity, accuracy and the honest guidance I’ve given my clients throughout the years. It’s an important aspect in this business and has proved successful. In partnership with two of my peers, we’ve completed $1.8 billion in investment transactions totaling over 26.6 million square feet.

Everything wasn’t always a walk in the park. It took years for me to really develop momentum in the business, but persistence and confidence made me what I am today. Now I am one of the leading investment advisors in the Midwest. Clients seek me out to assist them with my market knowledge and making highly informed decisions in the investment industry. With the ever-constant change of the market, I am consistently seeking for ways to set the bar higher for my team, clients and peers.

If I could choose one core value to live by it’d be all about “fun”. But I know how to put on a straight face when it comes to making deals. As part of a three-person team, I’m the numbers guy. I’m an accountant by trait and can run circles around any financial analysis. My clients know this and seek me out for guidance and advice when making investment decisions. When I’m not crunching numbers or closing deals, you can find me with a Sudoku puzzle or Word jumble in my hand – anything to keep the brain occupied.

I became a real estate investment broker in 1995 and have successfully marketed properties on behalf of national institutions, regional developers and investors resulting in maximized pricing for their properties. My team has completed $1.9 billion in investment sales transactions totaling 28 million square feet. It’s an accomplishment I am proud of, but there is always more work to be done. I continue to welcome new opportunities and accept any new challenges that arise in the ever-changing world of commercial real estate.

Investment transactions remind me of riding my mountain bike. It’s a challenging sport, where you’re constantly planning ahead while focused on immediate task at hand. Throughout either a typical day in the office or a ride on a mountain bike you encounter plenty of obstacles, sometimes it’s muddy and sometimes it’s fast, however, the challenges are a thrill and nothing beats the satisfaction of finishing the deal. That’s one of the things that drew me to commercial real estate.

Before becoming an investment broker, I was a research analyst so I always have my eye on what is going on in the market and the outlook to the future. It is not only beneficial to me to stay up-to-date, but my clients rely on my extensive market knowledge in what has become a fast-changing marketplace.  My partners and I dig deep into research to guide clients accurately on their investment decision making.

Since partnering with Steve Timmel and Jeff Johnston in 2001, we have assisted clients in closing over $1.8 billion in investment tractions totaling over 27 million square feet of space. Our team prides itself on being honest, providing accurate analysis and driving value for our clients. Commercial real estate investment transactions, similar to a mountain bike ride, demand significant attention to detail and if you hard work and hustle you can thrive. Coming in to the office to work on a transaction is a blessing and something I am happy to do every day.

Bridget Thompson

Marketing Specialist | Cincinnati
Cincinnati

As the Marketing Specialist for the Cincinnati Investment Team, I am responsible for building a team brand and creating and strategizing the direction of marketing materials to clients and prospects. In my seven years with Colliers, I’ve assisted the team with closing 157 transactions totaling over $1.175 million.

Creativity has always been a big part of my life so it was no surprise to anyone when I chose to get my Bachelor in Fine Arts degree with a concentration in graphic design. Prior to Colliers, I worked as a project coordinator for a publishing house in Chicago. This experience advanced my writing and editing skills as well as time management abilities in order to juggle multiple projects at a time. This ability has proved most beneficial working with such a high-volume team of advisors.

Insights: 2018 forecast

As many asset classes approach peak pricing across the country, Ohio appears to be well positioned to attract the interest of investors. According the RCA CPPI index, the sectors still recording growth in both pricing and volume include suburban office properties and industrial assets in non-major markets. There are higher yields in these sectors and the modest pace of new suburban office construction during this cycle limits the risk of oversupply and the subsequent pressure to lower asking rates. Additionally, the explosive growth of e-commerce and the continued push to locate distribution centers ever closer to the consumer, suggests room for further growth in the industrial sector, especially in lower cost markets. Through the balance of the year, one can expect modest growth in volume and pricing in the major Ohio markets. The 10 year treasury has pulled back from its 80 basis point spike earlier this year, which should allow for additional cap rate compression.
