Vice President with Colliers International l Norfolk, Virginia office, specializing in retail tenant and landlord representation. I'm a licensed broker, recognized annually as a top producer by the Hampton Roads Commercial Alliance, and earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation.

I started my real estate career training accidently while in high school.  Growing up in Virginia Beach I worked a variety of resort jobs: kitchen staff, wait staff, parasailing, bell hop/ valet, kayak tours, photographer, renting beach chairs and umbrellas.  At age 17 I decided to save money and start a bike rental business on the boardwalk.  In the off season I went hotel to hotel pitching my business plan to boutique hotel owners on the boardwalk until I had a couple locations and lease terms penned out.  This experience instilled in me a thick skin and negotiating aptitude.  I had another short brush in real estate during college as a residential real estate sign installer where I learned quickly that hard labor was not my forte.  Also, having family members in the residential real estate investment business kept dinner conversations around ROI and deal making but souring to the residential world, the notion of commercial real estate and how locations and lease terms effect the retailer or restaurants success appealed to me at a base level. 

I now have 12 years in commercial real estate brokerage representing retailers and restaurants, landlords and developers.  I like to think of this as the business of creating businesses. 

 

Accomplishments

I’ve earned a CCIM designation and brokerage license.  Some of the unique experience in which I have been a part of:

•             Ground up grocery anchored, Jr. Box , and retail strip center preleasing

•             Site acquisitions for speculative retail development

•             Manage existing regional shopping center marketing, new tenant acquisition, expansions and renewal negotiations

•             Outparcel leasing, sales and development

•             Advise national retailers and restaurants entering new markets or studying relocation opportunities

•             National franchise roll out programs with multiple franchisees

•             Government office and medical build to suit lease negotiations  

•             Preferred developer site tours in tenant driven site acquisitions

•             Partner with outsourced real estate departments and consultants

•             Local restaurant and retailer expansion in multi-generational families
