CURRENT RESPONSIBILITIES
I am currently the head of the Richmond office brokerage team and specialize in office facilities for local, national and international clients. I provide clients with disposition, acquisition, leasing and development services for buildings and land. In addition, I serve on the Board of Directors of Colliers International | Richmond & Norfolk.

CAREER SUMMARY
I have over 23 years’ experience in commercial real estate, 16 of which have been in Richmond. I got started in this industry through a friend of mine that lived across the street from me when I was growing up in Leesburg, VA. He was essentially a one-man shop and needed help, and having known me for years and that my grandfather was a successful commercial real estate broker/developer in Loudoun County,  asked me to join him. I worked in the Dulles Corridor and Washington, DC submarkets for 7 years, primarily working on behalf of landlords in both brokerage and asset management.

SUCCESS STORIES

Since joining the Richmond office in 2001, I have successfully negotiated sale and lease transactions with notable clients such as The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Dominion Energy, Better Business Bureau, ITT Institute, BB&T, Grander Capital Partners, and Riverstone Properties, to name a few. I feel confident that my clients would describe me as  honest and ethical, responsive, knowledgeable, thorough and meeting or exceeding budget projections. Usually the biggest challenge I face when representing landlords is how can I fill their vacancies at or above market rents. Probably my proudest example of this is when I took over a local portfolio of office and flex buildings totaling over 500,000 sf that were 40% vacant in 2005. Another local firm had been leasing this portfolio for years, and clearly it was no longer a priority for them. We guaranteed the owner that we would be able to get his portfolio to 80% occupancy within 2 years, and did exactly that. I still handle the leasing of this portfolio today, and while we have sold a good portion of those properties, the remaining 125,000 square feet is 95% occupied.

WHY I LOVE COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE

There are many things I love about commercial real estate. For one, I am fascinated by entrepreneurs and how they came up with the idea to form their companies, and the risks they took to get those companies off the ground.  And because I work with clients from all over the country and the world, I love to hear about their cities and countries and  how commercial real estate works in their markets. Another aspect I enjoy is how there are so many different ways to earn a living in this industry--the possibilities are plentiful.

Education:

I graduated from James Madison University (2017 FCS National Champions) with a B.A. in History. Since joining the company over 10 years ago, I received my Associate Brokers License and am pursuing my CCIM designation through the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute.
