AREA OF EXPERTISE
Mr. Freedman joined the firm in 1974 when it operated as Williams Real Estate. He became a shareholder in 1985 and was subsequently elected to the Board of Directors when the firm transitioned to GVA Williams and later, FirstService Williams. Mr. Freedman’s principal areas of concentration have been tenant representation and corporate representation of major agency dispositions. He is a featured speaker in the industry and has delivered the keynote address of the Real Estate Board of New York on the state of the industry. He makes regular appearances as an industry spokesman on major media venues like MSNBC, CNBC, Fox, ABC and others.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Mr. Freedman has been appointed the co-chairman of the Incentive and Zoning Subcommittee of Senator Schumer’s Group of 35. His civic and charitable associations include the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army, The Morgan Library, the Executive Board of The Gladney Center, Fort Worth, Texas, his many years of participation in the “Principal for a Day” Program, as well as his involvement with The Partnership for the Homeless in which they recently honored him as “The Man of the Year”. Mr. Freedman and his wife Ann are associated with the “Art in Embassies” Program for the U.S. Government. They currently have works exhibited at Winfield House, the official
residence of the U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James. He has recently been named a trustee at Franklin and Marshall College.

Accomplishments

• Recipient of the most Ingenious Deal of the Year Award by the Real Estate Board of New York for his efforts in reestablishing the Decoration and Design Building as a principal source for the home furnishings industry.
• Disposition of 2 Broadway, a 1.7 million square foot office building on a 49 year net lease to the MTA. This was the largest transaction in New York in the 1990s.
• Formulated the negotiating strategy and concluded Cigna’s headquarters transaction for approximately 470,000 square feet. The lease incorporated a host of quality enhancements including partial surrender options and an intricate structure of puts and calls.
• Supported Steelcase in the proactive management of its real estate portfolio, writing transactions in virtually every asset class of real estate, including warehouse/distribution, Class A “CBD” office space, suburban campus type and showroom. New York headquarters transaction at 4 Columbus was monitized pursuant to a sale leaseback.
