CLEVELAND (December 9, 2019) – SPIRE, one of the largest sports and training facilities in the world, located in Northeast Ohio, was snatched up by an out-of-town investment group only six months after being offered for sale by Colliers International Cleveland Ohio Office. Mark Abood and Brian Hurtuk of Colliers represented the Seller.
Working closely with ownership of SPIRE, Abood and Hurtuk received inquiries from around the globe almost immediately after the commencement of a broad marketing campaign that reached an international audience.
“The possibilities that come with SPIRE Institute are endless. Much like the owners and developers, we wanted to think much bigger!” says Abood, Senior Vice President and Principal with Colliers. “We were not surprised when we received interest from beyond our borders, because of the uniqueness of the facility.”
The deal officially closed on Friday, making Axxella, based out of Baltimore, Maryland, the new owner of SPIRE. They plan to greatly expand the sports complex through the development of adjacent land, the advancement existing programming and the introduction of new and creative uses for the campus!
“We recognize the importance of this complex to northeast Ohio. As we build out the programming and facility footprint of Spire to appeal to a broader local, regional, national and international audience, we will do so in ways that will cause the surrounding community to always be proud of the tremendous resource that is Spire”, said Jonathan Ehrenfeld, Axxella CEO.
