YMCA of South Florida to celebrate groundbreaking on its newest state-of-the-art facility on November 15

FORT LAUDERDALE (Nov. 13, 2019) – On the heels of a transformative redevelopment of the historic Sistrunk neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale’s Village District, Colliers International South Florida is proud to announce that the YMCA of South Florida has appointed Vice Chairman of Institutional Investor Services Kenneth M. Krasnow and Senior Associate Brooke Berkowitz of Colliers’ Institutions Solutions division, to lead retail leasing efforts at the state-of-the-art L.A. Lee YMCA/Mizell Community Center, its newest facility in Fort Lauderdale. The facility will celebrate its groundbreaking on November 15 at 10a.m.

“We are thrilled to represent the YMCA of South Florida in their newest project, especially during Fort Lauderdale’s renaissance and transformation into a complete destination for visitors and residents to truly enjoy and thrive in,” said Krasnow. “Our team looks forward to working with the YMCA to help navigate the intricacies of retail leasing that will further create the community-driven facility they envision and that will be a positive catalyst and gathering place for people in the community.”

Located in the heart of a robust high-growth region at 1409 N.W. Sistrunk Boulevard, the L.A. Lee YMCA will offer approximately 7,300 total square feet of prime ground floor retail spanning across seven suites and ranging from 825 square feet to 1,588 square feet each. Ushering in a holistic approach to community health and poised to serve as an oasis, the L.A. Lee YMCA will create a sense of place and is poised to become a destination. The facility will provide a modern grassroots approach to programs, services, and amenities and will additionally ensure career opportunities while driving the economic development in the community. The facility will include a pool, gym, co-working spaces, preschool, youth center as well as Broward College.

Focused on transforming the YMCA with fully modernized and enjoyable spaces and offerings, the YMCA of South Florida will additionally build a second facility at Holiday Park, where the Florida Panthers practice facility will be located, as well as the renovated Parker Playhouse. The facility will also incorporate City improvements. Recently, the YMCA of South Florida opened a new facility in Hallandale Beach.
