The Lite Company gains new ownership in long term Flagstaff residents

Local lighting & home decor company to continue quality service

Flagstaff,  January 31, 2019 – The Lite Company, a family-owned and operated furniture, lighting and home décor provider, was sold to two Flagstaff couples and will remain as a premier retailer in the community.

“The business has been purchased by four long-time Flagstaff residents, who are excited to continue the success of the company,” said Kevin Call, CPA, vice president of Colliers International in Arizona. “This high-quality business has provided great products and services to residents and visitors alike for four decades. It has been a privilege to work with all parties to keep this thriving Flagstaff business in happy, local hands. The new owners are enthusiastically committed to providing the same quality home furnishings, lighting and unique home décor that have been the hallmark of this great business.”

The Lite Company was purchased by two Flagstaff couples, Teena and Wade Patten, and Stacey and Kai McSwain. The business, which was started in 1979, was sold by Kathie and Michael Knapp. Kevin Call, CPA, vice president of Colliers International in Arizona, served as business broker, representing the buyer and seller for a successful transaction.

Call, who works in the Colliers International office in Flagstaff, provides strategic advice to business sellers and buyers, guiding them through the complex process of completing successful business sale or purchase transactions. In addition to brokerage experience, he brings more than 30 years of CPA experience to the process.

The Lite Company began as a full-service lighting showroom and over the past 40 years has grown into a destination for high quality home furnishings that suit all rooms of the home. The company remains one of the largest lighting showrooms in Arizona, offering complete lighting and lighting design. The Lite Company also offers an impressive collection of furniture, most of which is created by talented craftspeople in family-owned businesses based in the United States. Providing support to American artisans and businesses has been an important focus for the Knapp family as they expanded The Lite Company.

The Lite Company offers 10,000 square feet of showroom space in Flagstaff at 2109 N. 4th Street, just off Highway 89.

As a vice president with Colliers International in the Flagstaff office, I specialize in business and commercial property brokerage across Northern Arizona. With over 30 years of CPA experience, I serve as a strategic advisor to business sellers and buyers, guiding them through the often-complex process of completing successful business sale transactions.

I work closely with owners, buyers, attorneys, bankers, CPAs, brokers and other transaction decision makers to help consummate a wide variety of mergers and acquisitions in a number of industries. I also represent business owners, investors, landlords and tenants in the acquisition, disposition and leasing of commercial real estate.

Working closely with business owners, I develop exit strategies that allow them to move forward with their lives and/or careers after having run a successful business. I also work with buyers who are seeking to start down a new path by acquiring a new business.

Having owned and operated companies in the retail, restaurant, convenience store and hospitality industries, I understand business from the viewpoint of both the owner and entrepreneur. My operational and ownership experience allows me to advise business owners on how to maximize their company’s value.

My lifelong knowledge and experience in the Northern Arizona market have enabled me to work with and sell a wide variety of business types, including hospitality, retail, tourism, restaurants, convenience stores, construction, fueling stations and franchises.

My career began at KPMG, the largest accounting firm in the world, specializing in real estate and construction. Since then, I have helped businesses across the Southwest achieve top financial results through hands-on management. I have been instrumental in operating and selling many businesses, closing transactions in excess of $150 million.

Prior to joining Colliers, I was a senior associate with Coldwell Banker Commercial in Flagstaff, specializing in business and commercial property brokerage.

My extensive experience includes serving as vice president of finance and chief financial officer of Grand Canyon Railway and affiliated companies for 15 years. Grand Canyon Railway owned and operated a hotel, restaurant, RV park, pet resort, extensive gift shops, and a vintage steam train. At one point, operations included an airline service between Las Vegas and Williams. My background also includes serving as chief financial officer of HomCo Lumber & Hardware and Carter Oil.

As an avid outdoorsman, I enjoy skiing, fishing, hunting and spending time on a houseboat at Lake Powell with family and friends. I have been happily married for over 30 years and have five children.
