Colliers International Assists in 25,000-SF Lease at Second & Seneca Building
SEATTLE– Arup, the global design and consulting firm for the built environment, plans to relocate its Seattle office to approximately 25,000 square feet at 1191 2nd Avenue, also known as the Second & Seneca Building. The recent lease transaction that enables this initiative also accommodates an expansion for the organization, which formerly occupied approximately 8,500 square feet at Millennium Tower (719 Second Avenue). Arup’s new long-term commitment spans the entire fourth floor at Second & Seneca.
“Our office has doubled in size in the last three years and we look forward to continued growth. We are committed to our local community, building upon our recent rewarding projects with the Pike Place MarketFront, the University of Washington West Campus Utility Plant, the current Washington State Convention Center addition, and the Space Needle restoration,” noted Joshua Yacknowitz, Principal and Seattle office leader, Arup.
Colliers International’s Tony Ford acted as advisor to Arup in the acquisition process and negotiations.
Arup chose Second & Seneca for a number of reasons, including its Downtown location and proximity to mass transit and the ferry terminal. The Class A property also provides all the technical, infrastructure and tenant-focused amenities typical in a top-tier building and necessary for Arup’s innovative workplace. In addition, it gave the firm the opportunity to build an identity location and open-concept, collaborative environment with a trendy industrial vibe. Arup will move to Second & Seneca toward the end of this year.
According to Mr. Ford, “Arup needed more space to accommodate its growing practice, but wanted to stay in the same area of Seattle. Second & Seneca met the firm’s occupancy criteria and space size requirement, spoke to their corporate values, and offered the image needed to recruit and retain talent.”
