Rising from an old citrus grove, the course at Pointe West was developed in 1999. Golf course architect John Sanford
moved tons of earth to create a unique mix of elevation changes on an otherwise level piece of land – elevated tees,
elevated peaks in fairways, elevated landing areas, elevated greens, and bunker complexes highlighted by subtle
mounding, all serve Sanford’s architectural plan. Testament to the creative design at Pointe West, is the variety in
par 5 layouts. Both the second and the ninth holes are reachable in two solid shots; the tenth hole requires two long
strategically placed strikes to get home, and the mammoth 598 yard 16th is a true three shot test.
