Vacancy increases despite continued positive absorption

The vacancy rate for Chicago's industrial market increased by 10 basis points during the second quarter of 2017 to 6.69 percent, the first increase since the fourth quarter of 2015. Despite this increase, net absorption was positive for the 21st consecutive quarter, totaling 6.3 million square feet during the second quarter of 2017, bringing the year-to-date tally to 10.0 million square feet.
