As Dayton moves away from its manufacturing legacy, the local office market will benefit from the shift to white-collar employment. Notably, increases in defense spending will drive demand in the professional services, technology, defense and engineering sectors. The Air Force Research Laboratory issued contracts to local Dayton businesses totaling $504 million in 2017 and more spending on UAV research and development and other cutting edge military technologies is expected in the future.
