Northeast Florida retail market continues to thrive as it adds and expands on multiple major developments in the area. Wawa announced last year that it was looking for sites in North Florida. They now have 8 sites in development with plans for as many as 25-30 locations throughout North Florida. St. Johns Town Center is expanding with new projects, The Strand & The Crossing and Town Center Promenade, which is under construction across the street. The Strand & The Crossing is 260,000 square feet of retail space in a 45± acre mixed-use development.  Retailers and restaurants at The Strand & The Crossing include the area’s first Wawa, along with 2nd & Charles, Hobby Lobby, Cheddars, Chuy’s, PDQ, Foga de Chao, Chase Bank, ABC Liquors, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Fire Birds. The Town Center Promenade is a 30± acre mixed-use development, consisting of approximately 100,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space, 284 multifamily units, and a 150+ key hotel. Top Golf has opened and is a huge success. IKEA is currently under construction. Costco is looking to add its second location at Collins Road and I-295, and Aldi expanded with several new locations as well. With all the new retail developments comes new job opportunities, which is greatly aiding the economy in Jacksonville. All in all, the retail market is very healthy.
