According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate dropped 0.4 percentage points from 4% in January 2016 to 3.6% in January 2017. The unemployment rate for the U.S. was reported at 4.8%, up from 3.8% for Arkansas. The metropolitan Little Rock statistical area non-farm job creation totaled 2,900 over the past year. Retail industries (trade, transportation and utilities) added 1,500 positions during the past year.
