Despite major retail sales growth during the holiday season, Broward County’s leasing activity declined in the fourth quarter. Overall in 2018, Broward’s retail market saw 2.1 million square feet of retail space leased. In the fourth quarter of 2018, 491,997 square feet was leased in comparison to the 720,850 square feet leased in the fourth quarter of 2017. The vacancy rate currently stands at 4 percent and has remained below 4 percent since 2017.
