In the first quarter of 2019, vacancy rates increased as a considerable amount of industrial and flex space in Broward County was delivered. A total of 611,771 square feet of new space was delivered in the first quarter which raised the vacancy rate to 4.1 percent, an increase of 60 basis points quarter-over-quarter. A negative 107,468 square feet was absorbed in the first quarter while 1.2 million square feet was leased. There was 898,036 square feet of new leases and 265,981 in renewals in the first quarter. Major tenants renewing in Broward County included Propulsion Technologies International, Fairn & Swanson, and Southern Furniture Leasing.
