In the fourth quarter of 2018, Palm Beach County’s retail market showed signs of curtailing as vacancy rates inched closer to 5 percent and a large negative amount of retail space was absorbed. Palm Beach County also received zero new deliveries in the fourth quarter while 885,964 square feet is currently under construction heading into 2019. Nearly 145,000 square feet of new retail space was delivered in 2018 in the county. The vacancy rate currently stands at 4.9 percent, an increase of 50 basis points quarter-over-quarter. The vacancy rate in Palm Beach County’s retail market has not risen above 5 percent since early 2016.
