2019 Q1 Oakland Industrial Market Research Report

The Momentum Continues

Growing optimism for the region has placed the industrial asset class on top, yet again. Continued strong economic indicators paired with a bustling deal flow in the second half of the first quarter has the industrial market keeping pace with the previous year. The e-commerce sector continues to be a primary driver of tenants in the market. Tenant requirements observed are becoming more conservative in nature, containing less speculative estimates of additional space for future demand. Capital market lending remains robust, as institutional and private capital has been flowing into the East Bay, seeking stable returns on long-term industrial deals in the unclear market forecast.

Senior Research Analyst

Oakland

As Senior Research Analyst for the Colliers Oakland office, I oversee the data collection, aggregation, and market analysis for the Oakland/East Bay Area.  One of my key responsibilities is the quarterly production of analytical market reports for the East Bay industrial, office and retail real estate sectors.

After earning my MBA I decided to pursue commercial real estate in part because  it is such a  tangible asset class. Everyone in the community is impacted by commercial real estate, and the Oakland market is especially dynamic and entrepreneurial, with so many infill projects in development right now.

Prior to joining Colliers International, I worked as Director of Marketing for Pacific Commercial Realty in Santa Barbara.  I am currently working towards my Masters of Real Estate at Georgetown University, a program which has been very valuable to my analytical work at Colliers.

In my spare time, I am an avid outdoorsman and pilot, and I also follow the financial world recreationally.  I am a committed supporter of Calwof which supports the canine programs of the California Department of Fish/Game, and the 1199 Foundation, which supports California Highway Patrol officers and their families.

Research Analyst

Oakland

As a Research Analyst in the Oakland office, I help manage our proprietary market database as well as various outside sources of data in order to develop ongoing market trend analyses for our brokers and clients. In addition, I assist in producing the monthly, quarterly and other specialized reports published by our office.

Having studied economics with a specialty in statistics at UC Davis, my role at Colliers allows me to use my expertise in an industry that is economically dynamic, but also very tangible in its impact.  I get a visceral enjoyment knowing so much about the buildings I pass by everyday.

My professional relationships at Colliers bring me a lot of satisfaction.  I enjoy collaborating with the brokers on behalf of their clients, and work closely with the Oakland research team and other researchers across the region.

In addition to my research expertise and requisite tech capabilities, I am fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.  Prior to joining Colliers, I worked for a tech start-up as a data analyst and became proficient in several important database programs.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, watching movies, and playing sports, especially running, badminton, and basketball. I am also a huge Warriors fan.
