- Building Commissioning
Confirming that a new building or system operates according to plan boosts owner satisfaction, prevents unnecessary operating costs and reduces negative impacts on the environment. Our team of commissioning and energy experts provide an objective and technical focus throughout the commissioning process, identifying and correcting potential exposures.
- Building Enclosure Commissioning
Building enclosure systems have become increasingly complicated and critical. Advanced manufacturing techniques, materials and adhesives have enabled the construction of enclosures previously deemed impossible. At the same time, a growing emphasis on energy efficiency and high-performance HVAC systems has created new system demands. Our building enclosure specialists include certified thermographers with decades of experience in the detailing, performance and construction practices/installation of building enclosures.
- Continuous Building Optimization
By partnering with Colliers, we can deliver added value to your energy management and commissioning engagements through data-driven technology. Our analytics software solution translates data from your building and energy systems into actionable intelligence about operational inefficiencies, equipment failures and opportunities for energy savings. Beyond analytics, this technology’s diagnostic feature allows you to pinpoint problem causes and prioritize issues based on cost, severity and indoor environmental quality impact.
- Retro-Commissioning & Energy
As utility costs continue to rise, retro-commissioning allows owners to ease the strain on budgets by lowering energy consumption and operating expenses. Our team possesses the necessary expertise to help you develop operating and maintenance practices for existing equipment and systems to sustain these benefits.
In addition, we can partner with you to develop a holistic energy management plan and implement new methods of equipment operation. Our approach to energy services is firmly grounded with industry established practices such as ASHRAE’s Procedures for Commercial Building Energy Audits, the ENERGY STAR® Guidelines for Energy Management and the Association of Energy Engineer’s handbook and personnel certifications. Benefits of implementing energy best practices with Colliers include sourcing at improved prices, reduced consumption and enhanced maintenance to extend the useful life of equipment.

How can I enhance the value of my property through sustainable design and construction?
As a property owner, what considerations should I take into account beyond my current project?
Why wouldn’t I just leverage my own company’s project management resources?
I began my career in construction, where I spent 15 years managing construction of commercial and industrial buildings. After witnessing several projects begin with bad information, unrealistic timelines and cost expectations that didn’t meet the market, I moved into project management to ensure my clients had an industry expert as their advocate. Today, I head Colliers International's project management team in the Midwest.
My experience in design, construction and management of large portfolios of property helps ensure that the total real estate picture is considered in any transaction. My abilities range from strategic occupancy planning, to site analysis and selection, negotiation support, design, construction and move management. I have managed the selection, design and construction of more than 140 million square feet of real estate with total project values exceeding $2 billion. I have managed numerous types of projects including corporate headquarters, public buildings, redevelopment and repositioning of facilities, mission critical facilities, warehouse and industrial development, retail, multi-family, medical office and commercial interiors.
I work with senior management to understand their business goals and translate those into facility decisions that are completed on time and on budget while meeting the highest quality standards. I am the one constant from the concept through to occupancy and beyond.
Prior to joining Colliers, I founded and built the project management business unit at CB Richard Ellis and Equis. I am one of the pioneers of client oriented project management and help each client ensure they have an expert on their side during any facility project.
With a bachelor's degree in architecture, I have additional training through the Project Management Institute, Corenet Global and The United States Green Building Council.
Clients rely on me for my honest and trustworthy perspective to provide them with solutions to ensure that their capital construction projects meet their needs, are serviced by our multi-disciplined team of technical professionals, and are completed within their budget and schedule. I assist our clients by making the right connections with our technical team giving them the piece-of-mind to focus on their full-time jobs knowing that our team is in place to protect their interests. I represent a very respected and professional firm that always has our clients best interest at heart and we provide them value through our project management, planning and advisory, and commissioning and energy services.
As a dedicated business development professional, I enjoy developing relationships, but I especially enjoy getting the phone call from an existing or past client needing our help on a project who appreciates the service and expertise we delivered for them in the past. I also find it rewarding to uncover new opportunities and turn them into mutually beneficial outcomes for our clients, our staff, and our firm. With over 20 years of business development experience, I have become a trusted resource for our clients providing them with services and expertise they need to accelerate their success. At the end of a project, I know I have done my job if the building owner, occupants and users are happy and the client enthusiastically offers to be a reference for us.
Away from the office, I am an avid outdoorsman spending as much time outside as possible. You will most often find me golfing, hiking, fishing, attending my kids sporting events or traveling to national parks with my family.

I have been a Los Angeles resident for over thirty years and have been involved in the design and construction business as long, providing architectural and project management services in various capacities. I was fortunate enough to have developed an affinity for building at an early age. I had my first professional engineering job before the age of twenty and managed my first high-rise office project before the age of thirty. I had my own project management firm for five years before joining Colliers.
Early in my career as an architect, I was fascinated by the technical aspects of putting buildings together. My love of design and construction led me to a broader interest in the overall process and meeting the challenges of orchestrating the resources, designers, constructors, vendors and all the people who, if properly managed, contribute to a successful project. This passion for organization ultimately led me to a second career in project management.
While many aspects of my profession are standardized, all clients differ greatly in their needs, goals and aspirations. As a Director of Project Management at Colliers, I am able to draw from my years of experience and leverage my market knowledge to provide and manage the correct mix of resources and services to deliver spaces and buildings that meet each client’s unique objectives.
I live just outside of the downtown area with my wife and two children, where pastimes include watching them excel in soccer, going on long camping trips and occasional whitewater rafting expeditions.
