March 5, 2019 [Trexlertown, PA]Derek Zerfass of Colliers International’s Allentown office represented First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union (FCFCU) in a corporate headquarters and bank branch location search that has concluded in the purchase of two pad sites at 6126 Hamilton Boulevard in the new Movie Tavern anchored Trexler Business Center in Trexlertown, PA. One pad will house an 81,000 square foot headquarters building and the other will host its new multi-story Trexlertown bank branch and wealth management center when construction is complete in Spring of 2020.

The credit union, which serves 61,000 members and 1,200 member companies making it the largest credit union in the Greater Lehigh Valley, sought to consolidate and streamline its growing operations and enhance the workplace experience with modern open and collaborative environments and a live-work-play dynamic that would attract and retain the very best talent.

“We worked hard to locate FCFCU a site that ticked every box: location, visibility, amenities, walkability to retail and restaurants, nearby housing, vehicular access, and more” said Derek Zerfass, Senior Vice President with Colliers who facilitated the search and secured the pad sites. “FCFCU wanted all the benefits it typically seeks for a prime retail location for its branches in this office requirement. This location was like the needle in the haystack – it had everything they were looking for and offered a lot of valuable upside by locating headquarters and branch next to each other. As soon as FCFCU gave it the greenlight this project became an incredible example of how the client, township and seller came together to make this happen very quickly.”

The move comes amidst a flurry of exciting activity along Lower Macungie Township’s Hamilton Boulevard: Air Products is breaking ground on its new 700,000 sf headquarters directly across the street this spring and plans for a new 200 room Hyatt have recently been announced.

As a community-focused organization FCFCU takes pride in being a part of the growing momentum in Macungie Township and delivering close to 200 jobs to the area as a result of its move.
