Southern Nevada Economy Still Growing
Three quarters into 2019, Southern Nevada’s economy continued to grow, but also showed signs of that growth slowing down.

Unemployment in the Las Vegas-Paradise MSA was 4.5 percent in August 2019, 0.4 points lower than in August 2018. Unemployment peaked in Southern Nevada at 14 percent in January 2011. The region’s previous low unemployment rate was 3.8 percent in March 2019. The latest national unemployment figure was 3.7 percent in August 2019, the same as it was in June and July of 2019. The national labor force participation rate was 63.2 percent in August 2019, a 0.5 percent improvement over one year ago.
